SEMINAR ABOUT COP 15 AT VILNIUS GEDIMINAS TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY
In cooperation with Vilnius Gediminas Technical University the Danish Embassy in Vilnius arranged a seminar about the many preliminary negotiations that is being conducted before the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December. The seminar simulated a United Nations summit, where delegates from different nations discussed some of the most important issues that will be part of the climate agreement to be negotiated in Copenhagen. Among the delegates were ambassadors from South Africa, Japan, Finland, and Sweden, and diplomats from Great Britain, USA, Russia, Denmark, and the European Union Commission’s Representation in Lithuania. In addition representatives from the Lithuanian Ministry of Finance and from the Ministry of Environment also participated in the event. The seminar was well-attended by students from the university, who asked relevant questions and thereby added to the discussion about which targets and obligation there are to be put forward in an agreement on climate, and how these are to be financed.
